Sewing Room Reveal

We had this empty loft space over our family room that Josh converted into a new sewing space for me. That guy: brains, beauty, handiness, generosity, works hard so I can be home with the baby. Am I the luckiest girl ever or what?! Hopefully everyone feels this way about their spouse. Anyway, I love, love, love my sewing space and am so excited to share these photos!

My sewing room connects to the family room by this ladder that Josh built.
Note that there's a gate at the bottom so that Miss Penelope cannot climb up there. This is a kid-free zone.

When I walk up this ladder, I feel like I'm entering a sanctuary.

We chose light colored bamboo flooring in here, and I love the way it looks! You'll see this floor in lots of photos from now on because it is an awesome background, and I have great light for photography in here.

Love this pegboard for hanging up sewing tools and notions. For more on that dress form, check out this post. And, darn! Looking at these photos makes me realize again how badly I need to cover that thing in muslin or something more aesthetic than duct tape!

An ironing board is an absolute must in a sewing space. In fact, it is pretty much the only ironing I do. Heh, heh.

Love having a place to write projects and hang sketches, etc.

Josh built this shelf for me.

I keep my sewing tools that don't hang on the pegboard in that tackle box. If you are looking for a sewing box, take a look at tackle boxes. They aren't quite as cute, but they are awesome for holding lots of little things and are inexpensive.

This is where the ladder comes up. Bins for garments to be upcycled and fabric scraps.

Special shelf for my cutting mat. I left my small one on the floor, and the sun fried it in my old sewing room. Oops! Those things are expensive, so I am vigilant about putting my big one away out of the sun.

This cabinet holds all of my fabric. And a full-length mirror is another sewing room must.

I am looking for a new sewing table. I'd love to find a wooden one used, but I might end up getting a new one. Anyone have a suggestion?

I have lots of windows in here, so it's nice and bright during the day. Check out this gorgeous view!

That tower is at UNO.

We are just putting the finishing touches on the family room and will share photos of that space soon.

What do you think? Anything else you think I should add to the room? I would love to make a cute "Cotton Bottom Mama" sign. What would you put in your dream sewing space, craft space, or just mama sanctuary?
