Purse Organizer Zipper Pouches

I have this purse that I love, but it suffers from a lack of pockets, which creates complete internal purse chaos for me. It is basically just a cavernous space into which I throw any number of items, which get lost in its Bermuda triangle. When I need something, I flounder like a complete crazy person for 20 minutes trying to find it. It just wasn't working for me. So I got crafty and made these easy but adorable zipper pouches to keep all my stuff tucked away and organized. Crazy person no more. At least not on that front.

I made one for snacks and sippies (love love love this fabric). See my reusable snack bags?!

One for wallet, sunglasses, checkbook–that sort of thing.

And one for miscellaneous crap–pens, crayons, a little notebook, tissues, sanitizer and whatever else lurks in the bottom of my purse.

All with contrast linings and coordinating zippers (some of which were upcycled from clothing I tore up for fabric!).

Being organized is so liberating. It makes me so happy to peek into my purse and see these cute little bags with their contents all tucked away in their right places. I find that organizing my life gives me more time for things I want to do and also makes even my busy time more relaxed and enjoyable. It is also so fun to use things that I have created myself. Love this project!

There are approximately 8 billion zipper pouch tutorials online. Google it–you will see what I mean. I glanced at this one to help make sure my fabrics were facing the right way and in the right order, but I changed around the dimensions to fit my needs.

  1. Good idea! I wish I wasn't so intimidated by zippers. I've used velcro for all of my little pouches in the past, but it's just not as composed looking, you know?

    1. Totally. But zippers really aren't hard at all. Look at the tutorial I linked to. It's just sewing straight lines. I'm sure you could do it!

  3. My sister uses baggies for this. I keep telling her that is not good as they can tear, need frequent replacement and create plastic garbage. I have never sewed anything with a zipper but these would make a great gift for her. maybe I will try.
